Mountain View Power was formed as an innovative Community Sustainability Initiative and is owned by the Town of Olds. Mountain View Power (MVP) markets electricity, natural gas and green generated power to residential, farming and small business located in the County of Mountain View.

 

Profits generated from these sales are invested back into the community through the MVP Community Grant Program.  When you're a customer of MVP you're directly supporting positive, local initiatives!

Great news! As of March 2024, Mountain View Power is now offering even more cost savings compared to Direct Energy, only 11.61 cents/kwh compared to 17.59 cents/kwh.  If you're 60+, this discount is even better at only 10.95/kwh.  Farmers also qualify for this discount of 10.95/kwh.

MVP Community Grant Program

Community Grants from Mountain View Power

When you purchase your electricity and natural gas from MVP your also supporting positive change in your community. Profits are used to fund the Mountain View Power Community Grant Program.  The criteria for projects or programs that receive financial support are those that encourage, initiate and facilitate community and economic development through the incorporation of the five dimensions of sustainability: social, cultural, environment, economy, and governance.

 

Spring 2024 application period ended April 18, 2024.

 

Fall 2023 Winners

Three local community groups received funding through the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Program, financed by designated MVP profits. In fall of 2023, the program approved funding for three more standout applications that met the program's approval guidelines. The funding recipients were the Olds Curling Club, Mountain View Nordic Ski Club, and the Undercover Elf event by Olds Fashioned Christmas.

MVP Community Grant - Spring Application Closed

Spring Application Requests for Funding is Now Closed

MVP is an energy marketer that sells natural gas and electricity to homes and business in Olds and surrounding areas on behalf of UtilityNET, a Calgary based energy retailer. MVP was founded by the Olds Institute for Regional and Economic Development in 2015 to raise funds for community initiatives.

The Town of Olds is seeking partnerships with local organizations to build and strengthen our community through the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Program.

The MVP Community Grant will provide financial assistance towards projects that enhance and enrich our community. This funding is geared towards not-for-profit and non-profit organizations that impact a broad section of the community.

Applications must have been received at the Town of Olds on or before 2:00pm, April 18, 2024.
